Gabriel Paiuk
Gabriel Paiuk (AR) is a composer and sound artist who researches the conditions surrounding the experience of sound. His work takes the form of sound installations and compositions for traditional instruments and specially designed loudspeaker setups, and has been performed internationally by various ensembles. In recent years, Paiuk has started to articulate his compositional practice in combination with theoretical research. In 2009, Paiuk was director of the Center for Advanced Studies in Contemporary Music in Buenos Aires, where he also taught sound design at the Center for Cinematographic Investigations. He is currently a member of the faculty staff at the Institute of Sonology in The Hague. His electronic composition and sound installation Res Extensa was awarded the Gaudeamus Composition Competition prize in 2006.

Doors open at 19:30 A limited number of tickets will be available at the door. At the closing concert at the Vondelkerk we enter a world of serene sound. Violinist Ekkehard Windrich performs Gabriel Paiuk’s Greifen through a specially designed multiple loudspeaker set-up. Tonaliens create a mesmerising melodic, harmonic and rhythmic mesh of sound using only intonation, microtonal improvisations and subtle drones.
