Tarik Barriā€™s art takes on various forms: audiovisual performances, videos and installations. He creates live visuals for musicians like Thom Yorke, Monolake and Nicolas Jaar. Tarik uses tools like Max/MSP, Java and Supercollider to develop software for audiovisual performance and composition. His Versum engine was made especially for VJ purposes. Using his software in a live setting, he continuously finds new synergies and aesthetics in the combination of image and sound. Of Dutch origin, Tarik grew up in Saudi Arabia and started programming at the age of seven. At 16, he started making electronic music and studied Music and Technology at the Utrecht School of the Arts. He has performed and displayed his works at DEMF, Sonic Acts, Ars Electronica, Club Transmediale, TodaysArt, MIT Media Lab, EMPAC and others. tarikbarri.nl
