Ewa Justka
Ewa Justka
Ewa Justka is an electronic noise artist, self-taught instrument builder and electronics teacher, originally from Poland and now based in London. In her artistic work Ewa explores the concept of the materiality of the hidden. She investigates modes of quasi-direct perception through noise performance actions, interactive installations, DIY electronics, hardware hacking, plant-molesting, breaking, deconstructing and collaborating. Her main field of research is based on the exploration of the materiality of objects and vibrant, ontological systems (human bodies, plants, electronic circuits): a varied range of micro- and macro-environments and the relations between them. ewajustka.tumblr.com
Sonic Acts at Paradiso
This monumental Saturday night starts off with immersive audiovisual performances. Featuring over 20 DJs and live performances, the programme begins in the evening and continues until the early hours, presenting everything from experimental film to bass-heavy dance sets by international DJs and producers from acclaimed collectives such as Berlin’s Janus. This evening is a collaboration with Viral Radio.
Voice Odder Workshop
For this workshop, Polish electronic noise artist Ewa Justka will guide you through the creation of a unique, multi-faceted electronic instrument and effects unit, The Voice Odder, which is a compact, voice-altering device inspired by William S. Burroughs’ claim that ‘the word is a virus’. Participants will learn the functions of basic electronic components and how to build electronic circuits. The workshop is for beginners, but experienced participants will have fun as well!
