Marcus Boon

Marcus Boon (UK/Canada) is a writer, journalist, and Professor of English at York University, Toronto. He received a PhD in Comparative Literature from New York University, where he has worked with anthropologist Michael Taussig, cultural theorist Andrew Ross and literary theorists Avital Ronell, Richard Sieburth, and Jennifer Wicke. He is the author of The Road of Excess: A History of Writers on Drugs (2002), In Praise of Copying (2010), and Nothing: Three Inquiries in Buddhism (2015) which he co-authored with Timothy Morton and Eric Cazdyn. He is currently working on two books: The Politics of Vibration and On Practice: Aesthetics After Art. He writes about sound cultures for the Wire, Boing Boing, and others. Marcus Boon will discuss the work by Catherine Christer Hennix in a Symposium at the Teijin Auditorium (Stedelijk) as a part of an exhibition Catherine Christer Hennix: Traversée du Fantasme, organised by Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam in collaboration with Sonic Acts, as part of the collaborative mission to diversify the canon of sound art. www.marcusboon.com
