Jennifer Walshe (Ireland) graduated with a doctoral degree in Composition from Northwestern University, Chicago, in June 2002. In addition to her activities as a composer, she frequently performs as a vocalist, specialising in extended techniques. Since 2007, Walshe has been developing Grúpat, a project and collective in which she assumes twelve different alter egos. She has created a ‘communal thought experiment’ called Aisteach, which is a fictional history of avant-garde music in Ireland, and Everything Is Important, a work for voice, string quartet, and a film, which was commissioned by the Arditti Quartet.
