Morehshin Allahyari (#Additivism)
#Additivism
Morehshin Allahyari is a new media artist, art activist, educator, occasional curator and founder of #Additivism, an artistic movement aiming to simultaneously embrace and disrupt new technologies and realities. She was born in Iran and currently lives in the United States. Morehsin thinks about technology as a philosophical toolset to reflect on objects; a poetic means to document the personal and collective lives we live and our struggles as humans in the 21st century. She has been part of numerous exhibitions and workshops around the world and her work has been featured in Huffington Post, VICE, Parkett, Rhizome, Hyperallergic, Dazed Digital, and Al Jazeera, among others. Morehshin is a co-founder of the Experimental Research Lab at Pier9/Autodesk. www.morehshin.com
#Additivism: An Encounter with The Fluid Outside
A talk and Q&A session by Morehshin Allahyari and Daniel Rourke about The 3D Additivist Manifesto + The 3D Additivist Cookbook and the artist’s own research and practice in relationship to #Additivism, activism, and critical/poetic approaches to 3D printing.
#Additivism Workshop
3D printing promises to become a widespread material language, allowing anything that can be stored as a digital template to be realised. During the 2-day #Additivism workshop Morehshin Allahyari and Daniel Rourke explain how 3D fabrication can be thought of as the critical framework of #Additivism: a movement that aims to disrupt material, social, computational, and metaphysical realities through provocation, collaboration, and ‘weird’ / science fiction thinking.
