Why Be
Why Be
After years on the fringes of experimental dance music, DJ/producer Why Be suddenly made the headlines in leading publications such as The FADER and FACT Magazine with his first official release, the Snipestreet EP on producer Rabit’s Halcyon Veil label, of which the track Heroin Hat was acclaimed as one of the best club tracks of 2015. Korean-born, Danish-raised, and Berlin and Copenhagen-based Tobias Lee, aka Why Be, has developed a singular, uncompromising style of club music: hectic, cathartic and as likely to draw on ballroom and rap as industrial grime. He recently started hosting his own radio show on the reputable London-based station Radar, inaugurating his ‘Famished’ mix series, which regularly features his own exclusive tracks along with music by like-minded international artists on labels like Fade to Mind and Janus.
