Sonic Acts is very excited to announce the Dutch premiere of IsoScope by Dutch artist Joris Strijbos during the Sonic Acts Academy. The kinetic installation – commissioned for the 2015 Dark Ecology Journey and presented on top of a hill in the Norwegian town of Kirkenes – will be re-contextualised and presented on the Museumplein in Amsterdam on 26 February 2016. IsoScope is a sound-and-light installation, consisting of multiple robotic wind objects that interact with each other and with the landscape to perform a generative composition that manifests through emergent behaviour. Strijbos wanted to create an outdoor man-made phenomenon – an abstract sound-and-light entity – which, like most natural phenomena, can only be experienced in specific weather conditions. The work can be seen as a proposition for a new kind of mechanic and artificial life. More about times will follow on this website shortly.
