The Southern Reach Trilogy delves into environmental issues and the dysfunction in human ecologies. VanderMeer writes nonfiction for the New York Times, Los Angeles Times, Washington Post, Guardian, Atlantic.com, and more. His nonfiction books include Wonderbook and the forthcoming Space Oddities & Super Freaks: The Secret History of SF and Fantasy. He grew up on the Fiji Islands and currently lives in Tallahassee, Florida, with his wife, the award-winning anthology editor, Ann VanderMeer.
